TransferSummit Community

An important part of the Transfer Summit experience is networking with others. However, online connections can sometimes be equally as important. This page describes our primary online channels.

Twitter

Follow TransferSummit on twitter to keep an eye on items the transfer summit team think are important.

Use the hashtag #TS11 for items relating to TransferSummit/UK 2010.

The rest is up to you - post your thoughts on #TS11, our sessions, links to useful resources of interest to #TS1 attendees or tell us where you are going for food or a drink so that others might join you.

Orientation

We have an interactive map with interesting places to eat, drink and visit, but if you are at a loose end while in Oxford and wish to meet up with someone from the conference you have a few options (in order of potential success):

  • Tweet mentioning @TransferSummit and #TS10 in order to reach all attendees using Twitter
  • A direct message to @TransferSummit will reach one of the TransferSummit team via SMS
  • A call to 07983 101663 might get an answer from one of the TS team, we'll try to answer all calls, but noise and other duties may prevent this

New to Twitter?

If you are not already using Twitter you can very easily get going with it.

Once you've signed up, you send short messages that are broadcast to all you friends who are following you, to start with that won't be too many people, but you'll soon start attracting followings. The Twiitter web app is usable from most devices, plus clients are available for smart phones, PCs or Macs.

If you include the text #TS11 somewhere in your message then anyone who searches for it will find your message.

One of your first messages should therefore be something like "I've just joined Twitter and will be attending @TransferSummit #TS11". The "@TransferSummit" means that the TS team will see your tweet and will start following you. The "#TS11" means those interested in TransferSummit will see it and some will choose to follow you.
