Opening the closed doors of mobile development

Mobile development has traditionally been considered significantly harder to do than say desktop development. Whereas many “traditional” desktop-applications now live in the cloud and run in the browser, most mobile development environments are still specific to a particular mobile operating system and/or device. However, as more and more mobile devices enter the market, organizations and developers are increasingly looking at how to build cross-platform compelling mobile applications and deploy these without having to go through a closed and time-intensive application store process. This talk reviews the open technologies and applications that are slowly but surely opening the closed doors of mobile development and outlines the skills needed to fully benefit from this evolving paradigm.
