Building the Opencast Community

Opencast is a global community of higher education institutions, individuals, and other organizations working together to develop and exchange best practices and technologies for managing audiovisual content in academia. The Opencast Community also supports community-driven projects, such as Opencast Matterhorn, an Open Source Software supporting the scheduling, capture, managing, encoding and delivery of educational audio and video content. It is being developed in an international cooperation of 13 academic partners.

This talk will discuss the use of open development methodologies in fostering the global collaboration between academic partners, highlight challenges in this endeavour and spotlight the value for higher education in the adoption of and participation in a transparent and inclusive approach to software development.
