Steve Lee is co-founder of OpenDirective and Programme Lead for the Accessibile Technologies programme. He is a member of the several open accessibility communities, including Mozilla, GNOME and Ubuntu. Key activities include being a member of the BCS Disability Group, technical consultant for the Drake Music Project and StraightStreet symbols and writing acticles for Ability Magazine and on the board of Project:possibility getting students excited about open a11y development.
 
Previously a member of the OSS Watch team, and before that Senior Software Developer at Exeter College as the  'MIS Programmer', developing MIS Intranet systems

Latest interests include working to bring open innovation to assistive technology software as well as various techniques for customising 'off-the'shelf' software to meet individual accessibility needs. A key part of this is how open collaborative communities can involve disabled and older people. Mobile and cross platform web technologies are of particular interest.

Steve has a broad background in commercial, public and voluntary work in communications, systems and applications development and embraced the FLOSS concept before he knew what it was. GNU tools such as GCC have been long-term friends and he now prefers to program in Python when possible.
